LU Music Prof. Paul Salerni's recent compositions featured in October virtual events

Bowers Fader Duo in Concert preceded by a Preview/Roundtable Discussion:  On Saturday, October 3 at 3:00 PM, mezzo-soprano Jessica Bowers and guitarist Oren Fader will present the Bowers Fader Duo Fifth Annual New American Art Song Concert, which will include Salerni's Three Prayers, a cycle on poems by his long-time collaborator and beloved friend Dana Gioia. Many of you have already heard Prayer at Winter Solstice. Now you’ll hear the premiere of the two songs that follow Prayer at Winter Solstice, entitled "Household Gods" and "Prayer." The program will start with the baritone and marimba version of Salerni's "Prayer at Winter Solstice." This program also includes music by Poulenc, Brahms, Copland, and Kander. It will be live-streamed at:      • • • • •    Father and Daughter, song cycle on poems by Natasha Trethewey.   During the week of October 5, Prof. Salerni will be releasing YouTube videos of a song cycle on poems by Natasha Trethewey. The cycle is called Father and Daughter, and the three poems he set are entitled "Repentance," "Duty," and "Rotation." The performers are Marisa Karchin, Domenic Salerni, and Miles Salerni. We will be sending out emails with links to these videos as well as posting the videos on Facebook. Ms. Trethewey is a former Poet Laureate of the United States and a Pulitzer Prize winner.
