Faculty Recital: Michael Jorgensen, violin: Portraits of American Life

Join violinist Michael Jorgensen and pianist Steven Beck for an afternoon of American music for violin and piano.  African-American composer William Grant-Still’s thrilling Suite for Violin and Piano is featured, along with the at times comical and poignant Charles Ives' Violin Sonata No. 2, immigrant Paul Hindemith’s powerful Violin Sonata in C Major, and John Adams’ pulsing Road Movies.  Also featured is Vespers, a work by “Brooklyn’s post-millennial Mozart” Missy Mazzoli for amplified violin and soundtrack.  Tickets: $15, available at zoellnerartscenter.org and by calling 610-758-2787.
