Aly Horne joined the Lehigh University Music Department in September 2022 and serves as the academic coordinator.  She previously worked with the New Jersey Youth Symphony for three years, where she started as the Assistant Manager of Orchestras and Staff Librarian and became the Manager of Orchestras in 2021.  Aly graduated magna cum laude from West Chester University in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in vocal music education.  She started her career working as a choral director, drama director and music teacher for six years in both Delaware and New Jersey public schools before making the switch into the arts administration field in 2019.  Currently, Aly also serves as the assistant librarian for the Allentown Symphony Orchestra. When she’s not in the office, Aly freelances as a music director, audition accompanist and pit musician for theater productions at the school, community and university levels.  Some favorite past music directing credits include Pippin, Godspell, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, Once Upon a Mattress, and Snoopy.  As a pit musician, Aly has enjoyed playing shows for various venues and theater groups around northern NJ and the Lehigh Valley, including Country Gate Playhouse, Civic Theatre of Allentown, Readington Community Theatre, Trilogy Repertory, Centenary University, and several high schools in the area. Occasionally, you might find Aly on the community theater stage as well – some recent productions include It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play (Mary Hatch), Godspell (“Learn Your Lessons Well”), Little Shop of Horrors (Chiffon), The Secret Garden (Rose), and Snoopy (accompanist/Schroeder).  In March 2022, Aly enjoyed the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sing backup for Paul Shaffer at the Wharton Arts Annual Gala in Paterson, NJ. Aly resides in Phillipsburg, NJ with her husband Kevin, a high school band director in the Lehigh Valley, and their wonderfully quirky rescue dogs Zoey and Rizzo.
